Keyano students receive $310,000 in awards

Keyano College held it’s annual awards ceremony on Nov. 27.

The ceremony celebrates student achievements, giving students major support.

More than 300 awards valued at $310,000 were given out.

Sahil Bhatt, president of the Students’ Association of Keyano College said community partners support the future of students.

“Community support is important to the whole student life experience. It really empowers the students,”

The Northeastern Alberta Aboriginal Business Association (NAABA) was highlighted during the ceremony and gave out five awards of $1,000.

NAABA President Cheryl Alexander said many of their business owners spent time at Keyano.

“NAABA is proud to have more than 130 Aboriginal business owners, many who were part of Keyano College at some point in their life; whether they were taking a trade, the Aboriginal Entrepreneurship Program or something else, they are now proudly investing in the future,”

NAABA, which is marking its 25th anniversary, is committed to promoting “business, jobs and training for the betterment of all Indigenous people in the region” and advocates for local Indigenous business.
