Alberta Sheriffs and Wood Buffalo RCMP lay nearly 130 traffic charges

A busy weekend for Alberta Sheriffs and Wood Buffalo RCMP.

The Integrated Traffic Unit (ITU), which is made up of Alberta Sheriffs and RCMP provincial traffic officers, laid 127 traffic charges for various offences between Nov. 23 and Nov. 25.

Wood Buffalo RCMP opened an additional 15 charge files.

In an email from the RCMP, Cst. Mélanie Cappiello-Stébenne said of the total 142 charge files opened, some are still under investigation.

She confirmed five drivers were charged with distracted driving and seven for impaired driving. Another 90 charges were laid for speeding.

All other charges were laid for breaking various provincial laws.
