Acden Lakeshore Contracting announced Thursday that it will start work on Imperial Oil’s Aspen project.
Work on the in-situ steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) project is expected to start in the coming weeks.
According to Imperial Oil, the project is expected to start up in 2022 and will create 700 jobs during peak construction.
It’s also expected to produce 75,000 barrels of bitumen per day.
An estimated start date is expected to be announced by Acden in the near future.
