LOS ANGELES — Elsie Fisher is having a pretty good year.

Her deft portrayal of a lonely teenage YouTuber in the film “Eighth Grade” has earned her acting nominations at the Golden Globes and Independent Spirit Awards, and gotten the attention of entertainment heavyweights like Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alfonso Cuaron.

The 15-year-old actress from Idyllwild, California was considering giving up acting right before she secured the starring role in Bo Burnham’s directorial debut.

Now, in addition to being named as one of The Associated Press’ Breakthrough Entertainers of 2018 , she’s got a few projects lined up too, including an animated “The Addams Family” movie, and a musical from the director of “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” that will start filming in the spring.
