Hines Health Services (HHS) has been announced as a finalist for the Woman Entrepreneur Award of Distinction at the Alberta Business Awards.

The award, presented by the Alberta Chamber of Commerce, recognizes a female entrepreneur for her achievement in business, commitment to enhancing the well-being of the larger community, and who is a positive role model.

Kristi Hines founded HHS in 2012 and has since built a network of 120 affiliate locations across Canada, serves over 5,000 people internationally and has contracts with all levels of government.

Hines said her business consultant, Julianne McKinnon, out of Calgary made the nomination.

In a copy of the nomination form obtained by MyMcMurray, McKinnon lists several of the ways that Hines contributes to our community, including being a member of seven boards and her work as a guest speaker and lecturer on subjects like goal setting for new Canadians and women in leadership.

Hines said it’s an honour to be recognized along with an accomplished list of female business leaders.

“I hope this helps other entrepreneurs realize that opportunities to build a successful business exist all over Alberta.”

Hines, a mother of three, said being a role model for her children is important.

She shared a conversation she recently had with one of her daughters who said she wanted to not only be a chef but would open a restaurant.

“It made me happy that she is thinking about running a business one day and turning her passion of cooking into an entrepreneurial opportunity.”

In 2017, Hines was recognized locally as a Woman of Inspiration by Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta and Syncrude Canada and in 2018 she received the Profession Services Business of the Year Award from the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce.

The awards will be announced on March 1, 2019 in Edmonton.
