Some municipal services limited over the holidays

Some municipal services will be limited between Dec. 25 and the new year.

Municipal offices will be closed on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1, but the Pulse line will still be available along with essential and emergency services.

Winter Maintenance Zones will be relaxed from Dec. 25 to Jan. 1 to allow for on-street parking over the holidays.

Garbage pickup won’t take place on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Those with pickup on those days will have their garbage taken on Dec. 29 and Jan. 5.

Although rural transit services won’t be affected by the holidays, services within the city have the following changes:

  • Dec. 24 – Regular transit service
  • Dec. 25 – Only Routes 11 (Airport), 15 (Timberlea), and 16 (Thickwood) will be running on the statutory holiday schedule
  • Dec. 26 – Only Routes 11 (Airport),15 (Timberlea),16 (Thickwood),18 (TaigaNova) and, 99 (MacDonald Island) will be running on the statutory holiday schedule
  • Dec. 31 – Regular service with extended service on Routes 11 (Airport), 15 (Timberlea), and 16 (Thickwood).
  • Jan. 1 –  Only Routes 11 (Airport),15 (Timberlea),16 (Thickwood),18 (TaigaNova) and, 99 (MacDonald Island) will be running on the statutory holiday schedule

 

The landfill will be closed on Christmas and New Years day.

The Janvier Transfer Station will be closed on Christmas Day and will reopen on Dec. 27. It will also be closed on Jan. 1 and will reopen on Jan. 3.

The Conklin Transfer Station will be closed on Dec. 26 and will reopen on Dec. 28.

Once you’re ready to get rid of your Christmas tree, remove decorations and the tree stand and take them to a marked drop off site.

The following locations will be open from Dec. 21 and Jan. 15:

  • Frank LaCroix Arena – Beacon Hill
  • Heritage Drive skate park – Parsons North
  • Howard Pew Park – Waterways
  • Sobey’s – Thickwood
  • Syncrude Athletic Park – Timberlea
  • Michelle’s Your Independent Grocer – Timberlea (from Dec. 27, one bin will be located at the side of the building)

Otherwise, the municipality is reminding you to “contain it, don’t drain it.” Fat, oil and grease can become a costly plumbing issue that can be easily avoided.
