RCMP issue 42 tickets for car seat infractions

Wood Buffalo RCMP conducted a car seat check stop in collaboration with Safe Communities Wood Buffalo on Nov. 22, 2018 and checked 50 vehicles with car seats to see if they were installed correctly.

As a result 34 of the vehicles had many infractions of the safety regulations and 42 tickets were issued, eight vehicles needed minor corrections, mostly tightening straps for their children and eight vehicles passed with no issues.

All car seats were correctly installed and compliant with the safety regulations prior to leaving the check stop location.

The non-compliance decreased from 87 per cent in 2017 to 66 per cent.

Car seat installation information sessions are available for free of charge through St. John Ambulance, to register call 780-743-0991.

All sessions are held at the Redpoll Centre, located in Shell Place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
