ALERT nabs drug traffickers on Highway 63

ALERT Fort McMurray seized a kilogram of cocaine at a traffic stop on Highway 63 on Jan. 15, 2019. The street value of the drugs is estimated at $100,000.

ALERT Fort McMurray arrested and charged a pair with drug trafficking-related charges on Highway 63.

With assistance from the Edmonton Police Service and RCMP from Spruce Grove, ALERT Fort McMurray seized a kilogram of cocaine following a traffic stop on Jan. 15, 2019. The vehicle left Edmonton and was heading northbound for Fort McMurray.

Investigators stopped the vehicle on Highway 63 after receiving a tip about suspected drug trafficking.

The estimated street value of the cocaine seized is $100,000.

Sgt. Brad Lundeen of ALERT Fort McMurray says the team “works diligently to undermine the impact of organized crime on our community.”

“This seizure represents a lot of harmful doses that have been prevented from hitting the streets of Fort McMurray.”

Charged with drug trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking are 34-year-old Harley Perrow and 31-year-old Melissa Stickles of Edmonton.
