Salmon nuggets sold in Alberta recalled due to Listeria concerns

Delta Pacific Seafoods is recalling certain Salmon Village brand Hot Smoked Atlantic Salmon Nuggets for suspected Listeria. (inspection.gc.ca)

A Canadian Food Inspection Agency test has prompted Delta Pacific Seafoods to recall select Salmon Village brand Hot Smoked Atlantic Salmon Nuggets due to possible Listeria contamination. The nuggets were sold across the country in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. Consumers are advised to check to see if you have the product at home and avoid consuming the recalled product.

Recalled product should be thrown out or returned to the store where it was purchased. So far no one has reported illnesses in connection with eating the product. A food safety investigation is going and may lead to the recall of other products.

If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product CFIA advises you to call your doctor.

Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are, particularly at risk. In very severe cases of illness, people may die.
