Ceremony celebrates community “champions”

Sixteen residents and organizations in Wood Buffalo were recognized for their community spirit at the annual Mayor and Council’s Toast of Champions ceremony at Shell Place last week.

The Citizen Recognition Program (CRP) honours “individuals and groups that have made a significant contribution or positive impact on our community.”

Mayor Don Scott, along with members of Council, was on hand to thank this year’s nominees for their volunteer spirit and humanitarianism, and select the winners for 2018. He said they “help make Wood Buffalo a fantastic place to call home.”
