Keyano College is ready to go with their new Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) program.
With approvals from Alberta Advanced Education and the Alberta College of Paramedics, Keyano College launched their two-year ACP program, which Vice-President of Academics Fred Russell hopes will encourage students to remain in the RMWB to continue their education.
“We’re very excited to be able to launch this program now. This two-year, advanced care level diploma program is needed in this area.”
Emergency Medical Services rely on paramedics trained in ACP for their advanced knowledge of life support and trauma care. Students attending the Clearwater Campus can pair face-to-face learning with online activities.
Keyano College has a long history of providing the RMWB and the larger medical community with able graduates with adaptable skills in medical and industrial settings. Dr Vincella Thompson is the Dean of University Studies, Career Programs and Academic Upgrading. She believes ACP aligns with college’s desire to “advance institutional sustainability.”

Offering the Advanced Care Paramedic program is the next logical step in being responsive to community needs and in keeping with the college’s goals of promoting academic excellence.”
With both the PCP and ACP now being taught at Keyano College, graduates should have the inside track when they prepare to write their Alberta College of Paramedics regulation exams.
