It’s official: Wood Buffalo will host the 2022 Arctic Winter Games.
In a statement, Mayor Don Scott is “excited” at the prospect of hosting a major international sporting event.
“Our region will be hosting a major international event and welcoming thousands of visitors to our community. It’s an opportunity for Wood Buffalo to showcase our world-class facilities, enthusiastic volunteers and incredible community spirit and diversity.”
Mayor Scott also thanked the Arctic Winter Games International Committee for choosing Wood Buffalo, the bid committee, and the residents for their tireless effort and hard work.
The bid committee will make an official announcement this Friday, Feb. 8, 2019.
