No real change since the legalization of cannabis: StatsCan

Grass may beĀ green, but results from a Statistics Canada survey about the legalization of cannabis may raise a few eyebrows.

Statistics Canada says legalization doesn’t seem to have changed how many people use the drug.

4.6 million people, or 15 per cent of Canadians over the age of 15, said they used cannabis in the last three months.

19 per cent believe they will use it three months from now; that’s slightly higher than those who used cannabis.

While half of those surveyed admitted they used cannabis recreationally, only a quarter of those surveyed said they use cannabis for medicinal purposes.

RMWB Council will focus on where retail cannabis stores in the region can set up shop on Feb. 12, 2019.
