The municipality has increased the number of areas in the region to receive back alley garbage and recycling collection.

As of Feb. 7, Ross Haven Dr. receives back alley collection, along with Rainbow Creek Dr.

The municipality said in an email that the nine additional streets, mostly in Timberlea, have been added to the list in an effort to balance bin collection and snow clearing.

“Understanding recent weather events and its impact on our services and public safety. It’s important we balance public and worker safety in these areas while making it possible to collect bins and clear streets in a timely manner.”

While some have shown concerns about access to their back alley, the municipality said that crews will complete individual inspections if you contact the Pulse line at 780-743-7000.

It also said that back alleys that double as collection routes will take priority during the annual back alley cleaning program.

Pick up schedules haven’t changed for these areas and bins still need to be out by 7:30 a.m. on your collection day.

To allow for a transition period, crews will do the back alley pickup, then continue to the front of the property to pick up bins that may have been placed on the curb.

If you already receive back alley collection service, you don’t need to make any changes.

Find out if your street is affected on the municipality’s website.
