Champion Huskies spike it up at national finals

The Keyano Huskies men’s volleyball team look to bump their way to the gold this weekend.

The ACAC champions are in Red Deer for the 2019 CCAA Men’s Volleyball Championships.

The route to the gold medal for the #2 ranked team in Canada is loaded with talented teams.

Keyano could potentially face the best squad in the country, the Fanshawe Falcons, in the semi-finals.

Nevertheless, head coach Keegan Kuhr says preparation is key.

“Ranking doesn’t mean much for nationals, because they [have] pre-determined pools. Our preparation has already started to look at them, and see what we can do when we face off against them.”

Last year, Keyano won the bronze medal at the CCAA Men’s Volleyball Championships in Victoria, B.C., defeating Camosun College in a five-set thriller.

The Huskies open this year’s tournament against the Griffons de L’Outaouais, who qualified from the Quebec as the wild card team.
