RCMP stop a significant amount of drugs from reaching Fort McMurray Streets
A significant amount of drugs has been stopped from reaching the streets of Fort McMurray and five suspected drug dealers were caught by the RCMP thanks to an investigation that began in August 2018.
A total of 525 grams of cocaine has been seized after a male suspect was arrested in Fort McMurray on Feb. 28, 2019.
On Mar. 1, 2019, three search warrants were executed at homes in Fort McMurray and Edmonton where the following items were sized:

- 7 kg of cocaine
- 734 g of cocaine (believed to be crack)
- 960 g of methamphetamine
- 20 g of fentanyl
- Two litres of GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate)
- Handgun with ammunition
- $30,000 cash
As a result Zamil Dion Hasad, a 39 year-old man from Fort McMurray was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking cocaine.
Kaitlyn Biddiscombe, Brian Duc Trac Truong, Tony Tuan Tran and Giang Thanh Nguyen,all from Edmonton, were jointly charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Production of Cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Careless use of firearm
- Unsafe storage of firearm
- Careless use of ammunition
- Possession of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possess proceeds of crime over $5000
Inspector Eric Stebenne, Operations Officer, with the Wood Buffalo RCMP said in a press release that the work was done in collaboration with the Wood Buffalo Drug Section investigation the Strathcona County RCMP Detachment and Edmonton Police Services.
