If you have opinions regarding the province’s oil and gas industry, the University of Alberta wants to hear from you.

Scientists at the school have launched an anonymous online survey to gauge public opinion on the current state of oil and gas.

Professor of Geophysics at the University, Mirko Van Der Baan says it’s clear the industry has a huge impact on the province.

“There’s also been quite a bit of debate going on about not just the economic impact the oil and gas industry may have, but also the environmental parts and how transparent is this industry.”

Van Der Baan said researchers are looking for thoughts from across the province and you don’t need to be an expert to take part.

“Quite on the contrary. We want to hear all views, both from people who would be considered experts, people which work in this industry but also those who are actually experiencing the oil and gas activities close by their homes. We want to hear all the opinions.”

The survey is available online and Van Der Baan says the University doesn’t have expectations on what they want to see in the survey, but rather use it as a sounding board for the industry.
