The 32nd annual Spring Fling saw Shell Place completely transformed into springtime in Paris and brought in $155,000 in net proceeds for the Northern Lights Health Foundation (NLHF).

Melanie Antoine, Board Chair of the NLHF said in a press release that they were overwhelmed by the number of companies and individuals who chose to invest in local healthcare.

“Over 80 sponsors and local vendors helped create the theme, the prizing, and the live and silent auction items.”

Antoine also provided a huge update on the Gratitude Campaign.

“We were pleased to announce the final leadership donors to the Gratitude Campaign projects and to close off the $16 Million campaign.”

The campaign was the largest in the Health Foundation’s 34 year history and reached its goal just three years.

Cindy Amerongen, Executive Director of the NLHF and Dr. Andrei Manolescu, Orthopedic and Spine Surgeon at the Northern Lights Health Centre announced that the money raised from this year’s Spring Fling will go towards funding a critical piece of technology that is required to enhance spinal and orthopedic surgeries.

The Jackson Spinal Surgery Table has a multifunctional frame that holds different tops for all types of procedures for fracture and trauma, pelvic reconstruction, orthopedic and neuro-spine, pain management and general procedures,” said Amerongen. “The table enables surgeons to get into the small spaces they need to repair or replace with pinpoint precision.”

During the event, over $30,000 in pledges was raised for the Jackson Table after local radio personalities, including Brad Karp and Mike Jones from Country 93.3 and Melanie Walsh from 97.7 ROCK, entertained guests through a life size board game of operation.

The event was also made successful through the silent auction, two raffles, a live auction bringing in almost $40,000, a buffet dinner and entertainment by A Touch of Class and DJ Q-Pid.
