Recent drug bust a significant win: Police

RCMP display the results of a drug seizure by the Wood Buffalo Drug Section from Feb 22, 2019. Arrested and charged with two of possession-related offences is Mohamad Abdallah of Fort McMurray, Alta.

Executing a search warrant from the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA), the Wood Buffalo Drug Section net a local suspected drug trafficker.

RCMP arrested 65-year-old Mohamad Abdallah of Fort McMurray, Alta., at his residence near Clearwater Crescent and Franklin Avenue.

Aided by the Crime Reduction Unit, police conducted the search warrant under the CDSA at Abdallah’s residence on Feb. 22, 2019.

As a result, they seized 64.4 grams of suspected cocaine and $4100.

During the arrest, police found 14 more individually packaged grams of suspected cocaine along with $325 cash.

In a release, Staff Sergeant and acting Investigative Services Officer Keith Horwood commented on the search warrant.

“The removal of these drugs from our streets is a significant win for the community, the police and potentially affected families.”

Mohamad Abdallah’s charges are possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

His next court appearance is April 30, 2019.

To conclude, this is the second significant drug bust in recent weeks for Wood Buffalo RCMP.
