Tany Yao, current United Conservative MLA for Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo was nominated as the United Conservative candidate for the region in the upcoming 2019 provincial election, in September.

Yao was first elected as MLA in 2015 and also serves as a health critic for the United Conservatives.

He seeks re-election to continue being an advocate for the region.

“We need some more support in our health system, we need to get our Industry on track and build confidence with international companies to come back to our region and work in our oilsands,” said Yao.

Laila Goodridge won the nomination for the United Conservative Party in the new Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche riding in October.

Goodridge was elected as MLA of Fort McMurray-Conklin in July, though the NDP has changed the boundaries to create the new riding for the provincial election.
