A local family is going through a difficult time following the passing of a wife and mother.

Lawrence Davies lost his wife Patience shortly after she gave birth to their twins on Feb. 26.

Now, he’s left to care for the newborns, Emmanuel and Emmanuella, while also grieving the loss of his wife.

Lawrence met Patience in 2003 when they were both working at a school in Gambia.

“I lifted my head up and within me something said just ‘this is your wife.'”

Earlier this month, Country 93.3 and 97.9 ROCK put a call to action for donations of diapers, wipes, cash and gift cards.

Listeners followed through bringing in $5,670 in cash, $1,600 in gift cards along with several other items for the newborns.

Country 93.3’s Brad Karp was the one to make the delivery to Lawrence, who said he could never forget the things people have done for him.

“I’m speechless because I wasn’t expecting this, I’ll be honest with you. In bigger cities you don’t see this stuff.”

March 29th, join us at Wood Buffalo Brewing Company to continue supporting Lawrence and the twins, who by that time will be just over a month old.

There will be live music, live and silent auctions and 10 per cent of receipts collected will be given to the family.

The aim is to raise funds to help with costs of childcare, education and other things the twins might need.
