You do not need to pre-register before you head to the polls to vote in the provincial election.

On April 16 all you have to do is go to your polling station with proof of identification and your home address, such as a drivers license or a passport plus two other pieces of ID that shows your home address.

From there Lori Sutinen, returning officer with Elections Alberta says it’s a quick process.

“It takes about three to four minutes to fill out a form, then you sign it, get your ballot and you vote.”

Where to vote cards have been sent in the mail that detail which polling station you have to go to on election day.

If you can’t vote at your designated polling station you can vote at an advanced polling station where your specific ballot will be printed.

The advanced polls will be open from April 9-13 from 9 a.m. til 8 p.m. at the Elections Alberta office downtown, 9902 Franklin Avenue and in Timberlea at the Medaow Creek Village Clubhouse, 152 Millennium Gate.

On April 16 the polling stations will also be open from 9 a.m. till 8 p.m. and as long as you are in line at 8 p.m. you will be able to cast your ballot.
