The March Mullets campaign celebrates a milestone accomplishment.

CMHA partnered with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, Alberta Teachers Association – Local 48, and Voigt Harley Davidson for the March Mullets campaign.

Thanks to your support, Voigt Harley Davidson raised over $4,100 in mental health resources for the region.

That’s well above the goal of $1,000 they set at the beginning of March.

April Mantha, of Voigt Harley Davidson, recognizes the importance of mental health awareness.

“With the statistics being 1 in 5 people suffering from a mental health problem, that means it could be the person beside you on any given day, at any moment. We strive to support and promote Mental Health awareness on a daily basis. The mullet starts the conversation and our customers, friends and families helped to surpass the fundraising goal.”

How they did it

The team raised money during the month with a daytime BBQ, and an open house featuring live music.

Mental health awareness hits close to home for Voigt Harley Davidson.

Andrea Mantha was a family friend that they lost to mental illness.

Therefore, in honour of her and to celebrate the March Mullets campaign, they were able to raise $4,100.

Campaign lead, Mathieu Leduc, thanked the sponsors for their efforts.

“I started this campaign a few years ago and this year has been the most successful! I want to thank Matt and Mariette Voigt and their team for all the support. Without them sponsoring the event at their dealership, I wouldn’t have been so successful in raising the funds.”

CMHA marketing and communication strategist, Jasmeen Toor, says community support helps their organization “strive for a mentally healthy society.”

“CMHA thanks Mathieu and the team at Harley Davidson, for not only the financial support but also for being such great ambassadors for mental health. They truly embody the spirt of this campaign, and have successfully paved the way for many community members to reach out for supports.”

Leduc and Voigt Harley Davidson can’t wait for next year’s campaign.

“I support this campaign in memory of my Aunt Andrea. I do it to let my family know that we haven’t forgotten and to remind everyone that mental health affects all of us”.
