Council meets Tuesday to introduce the Property Tax Rate bylaw.

Along with the first reading of the bylaw, Council plans to hold a special meeting for May 7, 2019.

Property tax revenue decreased by $28-million for 2019 compared to last year, down $123-million since the 2016 budget.

As a result, the administration proposes different reductions for home and business owners.

Revenue required through property taxes for the 2019 taxation year amount to $643,621,000.

Audit Action Plan

Furthermore, Council will review the 2019 first quarter results of the Competitive Procurement Audit Action Plan.

Approved during the meeting on June 12, 2018, MNP conducts internal audits of the competitive procurement evaluation process, capital projects, and single source procurement.

So far, 33 of the 38 recommendations outlined in the plan are either implemented or completed.

As for the remaining five recommendations, one is currently in progress, and elements within the other four are complete.

MNP suggests the Municipality undertake standard operating procedures (SOP), training and increase transparency in procurement evaluation.

Completed recommendations include training for identifying key safety requirements at construction sites, and increased efficiency pre-qualifying contractors for municipal projects.

Council will also see presentations from TEDxFortMcMurray, and the RMWB Combative Sports Commission.
