Municipality declares river breakup

A sure sign of warmer weather for the region.

River breakup was declared Monday.

While there is no longer a significant flood risk, you’re still advised to avoid river banks and shorelines.

The remaining ice in the Athabasca River is now north of the entrance to the Clearwater River.

 

Last spring, the river breakup was declared on April 27.
