Waypoints: One Line for all survivors

Survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence now have one line to call for support.

Waypoints Sexual Assault Healing Centre and the Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services (AASAS) will unveil a new provincial help service.

Called “One Line”, the service combines phone, texting, and chat into one initiative so survivors of abuse can get the help they need.

Sexual Assault Program Manager for Waypoints, Alicia Teasdale, says it’s an important response to the increased demand.

“One line every survivor needs to hear is ‘I Believe You’. One line for all of Alberta.”

Teasdale says the #MeToo movement and the ‘I Believe You’ campaign by the AASAS encouraged more survivors to call.

Furthermore, thanks to funding from the government of Alberta, the service is available province-wide.

The program officially launches on May 6, 2019.
