One person has been arrested in relation to a house fire on Monday morning.

Regional Emergency Services (RES) was called to a fire at a single-family residence on Beacon Hill Drive Monday morning.

Fire Chief Jody Butz said crews were on the scene within minutes and had the fire under control shortly after.

Joel William Karsten Nickel, 26, of Fort McMurray was charged with arson along with break and entering a residence.

Nickel was released with conditions and will appear in court on May 22.

Fortunately, no one was at the home at the time of the fire, which is believed to be a targeted incident.

Wood Buffalo RCMP said in an email that there is no connection between this fire and Wednesday’s fire on Killdeer Way.

RCMP and RES continue to investigate.
