Teen arrested for drug trafficking on Franklin Avenue

Wood Buffalo arrested 19-year-old Matthew Jared Warcimaga of Fort McMurray on drug and trafficking offences during a routine traffic stop on Franklin Avenue on April 27, 2019. Warcimaga is due in court in late May 2019.

A Fort McMurray teenager faces criminal charges after a routine traffic stop by police.

Wood Buffalo RCMP stopped a vehicle on Franklin Avenue at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

Initially believed to be related to an ongoing theft investigation, a search of the vehicle revealed drugs and cash.

Police arrested 19-year-old Matthew Jared Warcimaga for possession of a controlled substance.

Also, police seized 60 grams of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, three cell phones, and over $2,200 cash.

Wood Buffalo RCMP charged Warcimaga with possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 also for trafficking.

Police released Warcimaga, who is due in court on May 28, 2019.

This is the second significant drug bust in as many weeks for the Wood Buffalo RCMP
