After a unanimous vote at council on April 23, the municipality can now implement the Asset Management System Policy.
Matthew Hough, Director of Engineering at the RMWB said the policy will ensure that assets that deliver critical services are being invested in.
“It aims to increase the transparency and consistency associated with making investments in municipal infrastructure.”
The policy will also allow the RMWB to improve the capital and operating planning processes.
Transportation, Fleet & Transit, Parks, Underground Services, Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, and Facilities will all be involved in the process.
Teams will start by documenting levels of service, collecting asset information, identifying critical assets and developing risk management strategies.
Hough said in a release that it will take years to achieve an advanced level of management.
