The Mikisew Group of Companies (MGOC) has acquired Guthrie Industrial Services and Guthrie Mechanical Services.
The two groups have worked together for the past two years as the Mikisew Guthrie Limited Partnership (MGLP).
Along with the acquisition, MGLP has been awarded a five year Master Service Agreement with Syncrude.
The agreement includes facility and mechanical maintenance, equipment repair, and project services at Syncrude facilities.
Edward Courtoreille, CEO of MGOC said in a release that the acquisition reaffirms their commitment to working and growing in the region.
“This transaction will not only better the financial performance of our company but also create skilled trade employment and apprenticeship opportunities to grow capacity within the Mikisew Cree First Nation and surrounding communities.”
Guthrie has been a part of Syncrude’s on site operations for 30 years.
Sally Whiteknife, board chair said the acquisition of Guthrie will result in MGOC being one of the largest aboriginal companies in the country.
