As a part of Emergency Preparedness Week, which runs from May 5-11, the municipality has launched new Community Emergency Guides.

The guides, which are unique for each community across the region, aim to give easy to understand information on home and personal emergency preparedness.

“Emergency prevention, preparedness and response are responsibilities we all share within the region.” said Scott Davis, Director of Emergency Management in a release.

Since the guides are unique for each community, they will give guidance on the likely hazards in your area.

Deputy Chief of Professional Services, Perry Gillam said that once your guide has been delivered, you should review it annually and keep it in an easily accessible place.

In order to be better prepared for an emergency, Emergency Preparedness Week encourages you to know the risks, make a plan and get an emergency kit.
