Landfill fee waived for household waste over long weekend

Good news if you have spring cleaning plans for the long weekend.

The municipality is waiving landfill fees for residential household waste from May 17th to May 20th.

The residential scale, which is located at the public drop off area, will be open 7 days a week starting on the 17th.

You can still drop off outside those hours but will have to weigh in and out at the main scale between 8:15 a.m. and 5:45 p.m.

The landfill is busiest between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. To avoid traffic congestion and wait times arrange your drop off outside those hours.

The fee is still in place for renovation, demolition, industrial and commercial waste.

Any vehicle towing a trailer or with commercial license will have to use the main scale.

Dates for household hazardous waste, big bin events, heavy item pickup and the new Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) will be announced in the coming months.
