Almost three years to the day after the 2016 wildfire destroyed the Super 8 hotel in Beacon Hill MasterBUILT Hotels celebrated the grand opening of the rebuilt 95-room TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotel.
As part of the rebuild MasterBUILT Hotels also wanted to support the recovery of Fort McMurray and has kept several of Super 8’s former staff as employment on the new property and has partnered with the Mikisew Cree First Nation who are majority-owners in the property.
Together they also opened a 139-room Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham hotel in Fort McMurray, in October 2017, Marriott’s first hotel in the market and the hotel franchise’s most northern property in North America.
