The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is seeking input on counselling services in the region.
A short survey is available online to help the FCSS understand how counselling resources have been utilized in the last three years, after the 2016 wildfire.
Adam Hardiman, RMWB Communications Strategist for Stakeholder, Indigenous and Rural Relations says they have seen an increase in access to services.
“We really want to look at the data in the last three years, but also the data before that to compare it and look at where we’re at, identify any gaps or opportunities, and lead to some consideration at what we need to do next to make sure we’re serving the community.”
The responses from the survey will be used to better allocate resources to programs respondents identify as the most needed.
Hardiman said the region is already tremendously giving when it comes to mental health, but improvements can be made.
“Obviously, there’s always more that can be done. We’re really about listening to residents; it’s really their call on whether their services are up to the level they require.”
Questions include if you have identified a priority or gap in counselling services in the past three years, where you live in the region, and what kind of services you have used or were looking for.
The survey is open to residents using those services as well as their families.
“The purpose is to understand where we’re at as a community,” Hardiman said, “and use that information to drive forward any changes that need to be made.”
The survey will be open until May 31.
