Mammography trailer to drop by Janvier

Alberta Health Services (AHS) announced they will make another important stop in Wood Buffalo to provide essential support.

The mobile mammography trailer is coming to Janvier.

Women between the ages of 50 and 74 can stop at the Father R. Perrin Community School at 129 Northland Drive on June 6.

That age group shows the highest risk of developing breast cancer.

While mammograms are the most effective way to detect the disease, the screen test isn’t as readily available in northern communities in Alberta.

With early detection, mobile sites give women more options for treatment and a higher chance of survival.

To learn more about this program and book an appointment, residents may call 1-800-667-0604.

The trailer will also be in Fort McKay on June 3-4, Fort McMurray First Nation #468 on June 5 and Conklin on June 7.
