Wood Buffalo RCMP arrested and charged a Calgary man for impaired driving.

On Tuesday, June 4, police responded to various complaints of a man driving erratically along Hwy. 63 towards Hwy. 881.

When approaching the vehicle, the driver sped away and due to public safety concerns the police were unable to pursue the vehicle.

The Wood Buffalo Integrated Traffic Unit  was called in and was able to locate the driver and vehicle at a truck stop south of the Fort McMurray.

The 26-year-old man has been charged with one count of impaired driving, and another count of impaired driving over 80 milligrams, flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

He was released from custody on a promise to appear in court on July 24 when the charges will be sworn in, allowing the release of his name.
