Fort Chipewyan RCMP shoot man
A pair of Fort Chipewyan RCMP members responded to an after-hours incident at the detachment that resulted in a firearm discharge.
A man has sustained a non-life threatening injury and was taken to hospital for treatment after being shot by a Fort Chipewyan RCMP member.
The man was found by two RCMP members on June 6, 2019 banging on the main entrance to the detachment around 11:55 p.m., which was closed.

In an RCMP press release it says that “Every day throughout Alberta, RCMP officers are faced with dynamic and rapidly changing situations where they must make decisions and take actions to ensure public safety. Often, a member’s actions are determined by the behaviour of the subject or the situation they are faced with.”
Neither of the RCMP members sustained injuries.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response team is now investigating.
