The Alberta Junior Hockey League announced the 22 player roster that they will be sending to Sochi, Russia for the upcoming 2019 Junior Club World Cup.

Among the 22 players announced was Fort McMurray Oil Barons defenceman Ryan Conroy.

The 18 year old from Chestermere, Alberta is entering his third year in the AJHL with the MOB and is coming off a year that saw him solidify himself as a top defenceman in the AJHL. Conroy scored 3 goals and 24 points while racking up 142 penalty minutes in 52 games last season.

The Sherwood Park Crusaders and Bonnyville Pontiacs led the way with four players each named to the roster.

The eight team tournament will feature teams from Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and USA.

The AJHL All-Stars will head to Moscow for a pre-tournament camp from August 16-22 before heading to Sochi for the tournament which runs from August 23-31.

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons played in the inaugural Junior Club World Cup in 2011. The Ontario Hockey League’s Sudbury Wolves are the only Canadian team to ever win the tournament when they did so in 2012.
