Jared Lee White, 31, has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
White was originally charged with second degree murder in relation to the death of Ashley Chisholm on Feb. 4, 2018.
On Wednesday, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
In an agreed statement of facts presented by Crown attorney Lianne Houssami, it was heard that White stabbed Chisholm in the right side of the neck after using methamphetamine.
Court heard that White believed “everyone was out to get him” before pulling a kitchen knife from his jacket pocket.
RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance around 8:30 p.m. and pronounced Chisholm dead at the scene.
A Canada-wide warrant was issued for White three days later.
After time served, White will be in prison for just under five years.
