One man has been arrested and faces various drug-related charges, while warrants have been issued for three others.

Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) seized a loaded handgun with the serial number filed off, along with around $40,000 in drugs and cash.

“Taking a handgun off the street provides an indisputable benefit to public safety. The drug trade is inherently violent and it is the community that pays that toll,” said Insp. Sean Boser, ALERT.

The seizure was made on July 11 after two apartments in Timberlea were searched with the help of Wood Buffalo RCMP.

Along with the handgun, police found 311 grams of MDMA powder, 116 grams of cocaine, and $15,940 in cash.

James Brian Taylor, 30, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing the serial number had been removed and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

Warrants have been issued for 27-year-old Jay Jazz Faithful, 25-year old Erica Colbourne and 28-year-old Rebecca MacRae.
