A plane flying from Fort McMurray to Edmonton sustained damage leading to a delay and the cancellation of two flights.

On July 19, WestJet Encore Flight 3362, heading to Edmonton International Airport sustained tire damage while landing.

While a spokesperson with WestJet said there are no statistics as to how often this happens, it does “from time to time.”

None of the 70 passengers on the Bombardier Q400 were injured.

Due to lightning, those passengers had to stay on the taxiway for around 80 minutes before making it to their gate.

The aircraft was removed from service, leading to a shortage of planes and the cancellation of two Flights 3125 and 3198.
