There will be a new face leading the Keyano Huskies Women’s Volleyball squad.

Keyano College announced Kira Sutcliffe will be their new head coach.

Sutcliffe said she looks forward to helping the team achieve their goals.

“I am honored to be part of the Huskies Women’s Volleyball team and continue to grow a positive environment and team culture.”

Last year, the Keyano Huskies Women’s Volleyball team just missed the ACAC championships.

However, the new hire is another indication Keyano is building towards more success for all its sports teams.

“Huskies Athletics is excited to have Kira join our group of experienced and successful coaches.” Said Director of Sport & Wellness, Jonathan Lambert. “She brings a history of success as a student-athlete in the PacWest, CCAA and as a professional.”

Lambert added Sutcliffe’s experience and drive should help put the program over the top.

Kira Sutcliffe spent last season as the assistant coach for Columbia Bible College in the Pacwest conference.

She arrives in Fort McMurray on August 15, 2019.

Sutcliffe also brings a successful playing career to her new role.

The two-time CCAA All-Canadian Athlete played volleyball for five years at Capilano University in North Vancouver.

She also won Capilano’s Female Athlete of the Year award and twice received all-star recognition at the Pacwest Championship Tournament.

After graduating, Sutcliffe played one year of professional volleyball in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Keyano College also announced training camp for Women’s Volleyball begins August 22, 2019, at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre.
