A survey for the 2019 FireSmart Research Study is underway in Wood Buffalo.
The goal is to understand how willing homeowners are to bring FireSmart-related activities into their homes and properties.
Partnering with the Municipality, Canadian Forest Service (CFS), and FireSmart Canada, Advanis Research Group will conduct a phone survey.
Empowerment and support
Considering the 2016 Horse River wildfire, the Municipality hopes the information from residents would help to reduce the risk of wildfire damage.
They added homes, neighbourhoods, and communities across Canada could benefit from this FireSmart Research Study.
Advanis will randomly select homeowners in the urban service area and ask a series of qualifying questions.
To be eligible for the survey, candidates must be at least 18 years of age, a resident of Fort McMurray, and a single-detached homeowner.
If successful, Advanis will then direct participants to complete the survey online.
Homeowners may participate directly by texting the word ‘FIRESMART’ to (844) 289-1258.
Residents who complete the survey could also win a $100 gift card from Canadian Tire.
