Addiction and mental health services are available at a new location.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) announced the opening of Wood Buffalo Addiction and Mental Health Services clinic in Timberlea.
The walk-in clinic is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Timberlea Landing plaza on Powder Drive.
Meanwhile, the former site on 10217 Queen Street will continue providing environmental public health services.
Mental Health
AHS said they made the move to increase care and access for clients of all ages.
They added the walk-in clinic provides joint-case conferencing, case planning, and a number of short-term counselling services
Residents may enter for help with things like stress, depression, anxiety, relationships, parenting, bereavement.
There are also unique services like the Gambling Recovery Intensive Program (GRIP), Relapse Prevention Group, Friends and Family Support Group, Youth Information Series, Fort McMurray Diversion Program, and Assertive Outreach Services (AOS).
Also, there is the Street Connect service.
Street Connect provides outpatient care for clients living throughout Fort McMurray.
This community program focuses on eliminating barriers to reach those most vulnerable who are in need of support.
