A seniors information session is being held at the Wood Buffalo Regional Library.

Topics being covered include:

  • Old Age Security
  • Guaranteed Income Supplement
  • Canada Pension Plan

Pam Burns, a seniors advocate with St. Aiden’s Society said that provincial and federal representatives will be on hand to present information.

“Sometimes government programs change and people aren’t aware. If they’re not aware they’re not accessing.”

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions, and depending on the time available, help with the application process.

She added that they do have providers to provide support during the application process.

While the information session is directed towards seniors; family members, caregivers and those approaching “seniorhood” can attend

The session is Sept. 4 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

There is also a session for professionals who work with seniors starting at 8:30 a.m.
