Hundreds gathered on Sept. 14, 2019, for the “Get Involved Wood Buffalo” event.

Held at Nexen Field House, the family-friendly event featured games, bouncy castles, face painting, and a host of other free activities.

Residents could also register for the 2019 United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo Community Campaign.

Fuse Social executive director, Chantal Beaver was appreciative of the high turnout.

“It was a great way for the individuals and families in attendance to learn about different agencies and volunteer opportunities throughout our region.”

Visitors took part in a scavenger hunt dropping by booths to learn about the region’s agencies and social profits.

Local businesses donated prizes to reward lucky winners who completed their passports.

Partnering with the United Way for the event was Fuse Social, Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo, and Wood Buffalo Sport Connection.

2019 Community Campaign Chair, Ken Sandmoen helped launched the nine-week campaign.

Moreover, Sandmoen unveiled this year’s lofty campaign goal of five million dollars.

“The 2019 Campaign is about supporting our 25 agencies in their efforts to tackle the unignorable issues in our region.”

He also said agencies require that amount of funds to continue their fundamental work in our community.

United Way raised $4.6-million during the 2018 Community Campaign.
