Regional Emergency Services (RES) is hosting a kickoff event for Fire Prevention Week.
You’ll be able to interact with local firefighters and industry partners, as well as see various firefighting equipment first hand.
RES will also have the interactive fire safety trailer for you to tour.
The kickoff, which is on Oct. 5, will also have a free barbecue and activities for the whole family.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at MacDonald Island Park.
Fire Prevention Week runs Oct. 6 to 12 and RES is reminding residents to have and practice a home escape plan.
The plan should include a map of your home with two exits from each room, teaching children how to escape on their own, making sure your house number is clearly marked, closing doors behind you and practicing the drill twice a year.
