Shannon Noble has been named the third nominee for the Women of Inspiration series 2019-2020.

The series is presented by Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta and The Bouchier Group.

Noble has lived in the region for 30 years and joined the Fort McMurray Public School District (FMPSD) seven years ago.

FMPSD Superintendent Doug Nicholls said in a statement that Noble was a big support during the wildfires.

“Along with her team, she ensured re-entry post wildfires went as smoothly as possible for all. She was critical in bringing many mental health grants, programs, and resources to FMPSD and the committees she supports. Shannon is one of the first to arrive and the last to leave.”

Aside from her work with the school district, Noble is also very involved in the community, having started a local Tourette’s syndrome parent support group.

Noble was recognized by Tourette Canada for her “incessant efforts” and given the Educator Award during National Volunteer Week in 2018.

She also sits on the board for the Hub as well as the Regional Collaborative Service Delivery group representing FMPSD.

Noble also earned the Citizen Recognition Program: Mayor and Council’s Toast of Champions award along with the Fort McMurray Catholic District and Canadian Red Cross.

The trio won for the Wood Buffalo You Can Ride Program, which provides adapted bikes so all children can ride.

Noble and four other women will be celebrated at the Women of Inspiration Banquet in March 2020.
