Arrests made in Fort Chipewyan drug seizure

Fort Chipewyan RCMP arrested two people on multiple firearms and drug-related charges.

On Sept. 20, 2019, police executed a search warrant at a residence in the hamlet.

RCMP seized a firearm, methamphetamine, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police arrested and charged 28-year-old Alexander Bradford Waquan on outstanding warrants as well as one count each of unsafe storage and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Waquan also faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, production of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000, and failure to comply with conditions.

Furthermore, RCMP arrested and charged a Fort Chipewyan woman with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Waquan posted bail, and is due in Provincial Court on November 7, 2019.

Meanwhile, police released the woman on a promise to appear in court on December 5, 2019.
