Mayor and Council are back after attending last week’s Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) convention in Edmonton.

They held meetings with several of the Alberta government’s cabinet ministers discussing projects and priorities in the RMWB.

Mayor Don Scott said talks were positive.

“As we have a new government in Edmonton, these meetings are an excellent opportunity to foster effective relationships with provincial decision-makers and, at the same time, promote our region’s opportunities and strengths.”

Particular portfolios of interest to RMWB Council include Education, Infrastructure, Energy, Municipal Affairs, Seniors and Housing.

The AUMA convention ran from Sept. 25-27, 2019.

Joining Mayor Don Scott were councillors Krista Balsom, Sheila Lalonde, Keith McGrath, Verna Murphy, Jane Stroud and Claris Voyageur.

Also attending the three-day convention was Chief Administrative Officer Annette Antoniak.

The next council meeting takes place on Oct. 8, 2019.
